Day Tour Maasai Boma & Kikuletwa Hotsprings

Detailed Overview

Overview

The Maasai, are semi-nomadic tribes who live in the northern parts of Tanzania. They are among the best-known local populations internationally due to their residence near the many game parks and their distinctive customs and dresses.

The hot spring of Kikuletwa, also known as Chemka Hot Springs, is close to the village of Rundugai and is one of the most beautiful places to relax in Tanzania. The small pool is surrounded by palm and fig trees with winding roots. In the morning, Blue Monkeys can often be observed in the trees, whilst the crystal clear, turquoise water invites you to a refreshing bath. Garra Rufa fish live in the water of the spring. These sly little fish are used by pedicures around the world. These fish suck and nibble on the skin and remove delicate skin through natural peeling. So, you will show up with shiny, revitalized feet. Although, it is called “hot springs”, the water in Kikuletwa is not truly ‘hot’ but refreshing, as the water source flows underground from Kilimanjaro. The groundwater actively interacts with geothermal sources, forming a number of small lakes with warm, never-stagnating water.
